Where do five diehard New Yorkers with an appetite for glam stay in a foreign city of sun, sand and celebrity status? A cinematic playhouse steps from the beaches of Santa Monica, of course. Enter the Viceroy Santa Monica.
On the corner of Ocean Ave and Pico Blvd lies a 4-star hotel rife with sprawling cabanas, Art Deco details, and a color palette that would make Wes Anderson proud. Here were a few of their favorite things at the beachside palace, making it easy to swap those East Coast mean mugs for a breezy City of Angels attitude.
THE SPOT: Viceroy Santa Monica | 1819 Ocean Ave, Santa Monica, CA
THE STATS: 162 guest rooms, breathtaking ocean and city views, a whimsy-inducing library, and the ultimate in poolside luxury, thanks to cabanas that work double duty for dining at CAST restaurant.
PERFECT FOR: A chic hideaway with the most glamorous girls you know
“You can’t drink all day if you don’t start in the morning.” THE STAYCATIONERS rose to the occasion with a toast to the good life, starting with champagne and then easing into one perfectly chilled bottle of Global Vodka. The only thing icier than their glasses? The hotline bling on their hands, courtesy of FLONT CLUB. California knows how to party. And it appears they do, too. Thank goodness for Perpetual Shade eye masks to keep the light at bay the morning after…
Every iconic property deserves to be explored by a chic-to-death squad. So, THE STAYCATIONERS strapped on their highest heels and strutted about. With lush gardens, a retro-glam lounge designed by Kelly Wearstler, and vibrant details around every bend, it should come as no surprise that the Insta-worthy moments were plentiful (but not without the help of head-to-toe GUESS getups).
Because having swag is hard work, it was time for THE STAYCATIONERS to do what they do best: L O U N G E. This time, in a mix of statement one-piece swimsuits designed by Panarea Couture. With craft cocktails and stylish snacks served poolside via CAST Restaurant, who really needs the beach anyway?
Through hallways chic enough for a Hitchcock film and a library that deserves its own Oscar award, THE STAYCATIONERS stepped best headed off to dinner, feeling like Hollywood starlets in their own right. Doused in margaritas and some serious fuel (think salmon, scallops, and grilled Californian peach salad), the squad wined and dined ’til the wee hours of the morning. Can you blame them?
Keep up with THE STAYCATIONERS as they take over new hotels in new cities each month. This round made possible by Viceroy Santa Monica, Global Vodka, GUESS, Flont Club, Panarea Couture, Perpetual Shade, ALEKKA and Makeup by Marissa Lafayette.
