THE STAYCATIONERS: THE SOHOTEL
THE STAYCATIONERS are back with a vengeance, this time taking the heat up a notch and heading off the grid for a V-Day staycay with all the trimmings.
VOLUME II | SOHOTEL
THE SPOT: Sohotel, 341 Broome Street
THE STATS: 98 rooms, four dining/nightlife destinations
PERFECT FOR: A romantic low-key V-Day getaway stayaway. Book it. Clock’s ticking.
Nothing says OG like holding down the title as longest continuously operating hotel in NYC on the oldest thoroughfare on the island of Manhattan. The Sohotel dates back to 1805, once housing the likes of notorious politician Big Tim Sullivan and the one and only William Waldorf Astor. After a recent (and particularly badass) renovation complete with soundproof windows and bold statement pieces, Sohotel’s old-school-meets-downtown-chill vibe makes for a killer couple’s staycation. THE STAYCATIONERS kept it real in honor of Saint Valentine, from a candlelit in-room takeout fest fueled by Piacere to sharing the love over Bacchanal’s Barrel Brunch with the crew. Check out the rundown.
No room service? No problem. Sohotel’s surrounded by a coterie of awesome food joints
, including neighborhood gem Piacere. Our staycationing couple knows what’s up. Brick oven pizza. Bed. Saint Celebrity custom candles. Pickin’ up what we’re puttin’ down?

Hot staycation tip: avoid cabin fever by strategically mapping out surrounding s
weet spots. Call up nearby cohorts. Indulge in further nutriment at said spots. Randolph Beer happens to be located 15 feet from our staycay pick, and with our staycationers in serious need of a good brew, the convivial nightcap was a no-brainer.
Randolph Beer’s no-frills American fare and 60+ craft beers make Randolph Group’s third outpost a must-try. The gastropub-esque establishment, outfitted with reclaimed sidewalk paver
s and wood accents, features hearty dishes like “evil sprouts” (take that as you will), bangers and mash, charcuterie boards fit for a king (and queen), and an insane Sigmund’s pretzel with smoked sea salt and horseradish mustard, the possibilities and pairings are limitless. A perfect ending to our staycationers’ evening.

Hello, food coma. Bacchanal is Sohotel’s crown cornerstone jewel on deck with an unreal brunch perfected by Chef Ryan Schmidtberger and co. We’re talking bacon-wrapped shrimp and grits, pork belly eggs Benedict, fried chicken and kale salad, a smoked salmon everything bagel breakfast sandwich, steak tartare, et al. What’s this Barrel Brunc
h, you ask? Bottomless mimosas and bloodys, plus beers, negronis, and wine on tap. For a mere $20. Yeah. We’ll let that one sink in.

Until next time, faithful reader.
Keep up with THE STAYCATIONERS as they take over a hotel each month. This round made possible by Sohotel, Daywaste, Saint Celebrity, Hot Girls Eating Pizza, Trixxie, Randolph
Beer, Bacchanal, and Piacere.
