THE STAYCATIONERS: SCRIBNER’S CATSKILL LODGE
The weather outside is disrespectful, so do as THE STAYCATIONERS do and devise a foolproof plan for getting snowed in somewhere sexy. Enter Scribner’s: dark maple floors, sheepskin throws, and fireplaces galore come together to create a little slice of heaven in the form of a Scandinavian-chic hotel. It brings the extra exactly where you want it in the form of patterned Persian rugs, plush hotel robes, and ready-to-burn s’mores. Bringing together a sense of adventure and artistry in true Catskills form, this homey hotel is the idyllic representation of the best that the Hudson Valley has to offer, particularly when our favorite mobile office squad gets thrown into the mix to balance things out with a bit of productivity…time to pack our laptops and head upstate, where us jaded urbanites will rediscover our bucolic affinities (and new year motivation) at Scribner’s Lodge.
THE SPOT: Scribner’s Lodge | 13 Scribner Hollow Rd, Hunter, NY
THE STATS: 38 guest rooms and suites, a yoga room, the coziest common area you’ve ever seen, and a locally-inspired restaurant.
PERFECT FOR: escaping the city for a weekend of R&R or adventure—the choice is yours. But you can have it all.
Four large pizzas. Yes, that’s all for two petite girls. After all, we don’t know how long THE STAYCATIONERS’ Jenga tournament is going to last…afterward, maybe we’ll get crazy and crack open Lolita or another one of the hundreds of books lining the colorful walls around the snug af common room. There are few things more harmoniously matched than a good read around a warm fire and a piping hot slice (or six).
Lucky for us, WorkEatPlay was in the building hosting their winter-time retreat at the Lodge. Built for entrepreneurs and freelancers (like the STAYCATIONERS), the platform works with restaurants and venues to support our out-of-office lifestyle. Because let’s be serious—working from home alone all day isn’t quite on par with our social standards. Our night was spent sipping wine and carb loading, so we were relieved to learn that yoga was on the schedule the following morning. After working off our latest stint of over-indulgence, it was time to amp up the productivity.
While we’re snowed in, don’t mind if we order everything on Prospect’s menu. Between breakfast and dinner, we sampled almost every dish…so trust when we tell you that there’s no going wrong. Good thing we have our toasty beds to return to, where we can snuggle the food baby away. Goodnight moon!
A special thanks to Scribner’s Lodge and Work Eat Play for making this round possible, and major love for our OG guest staycationer Christina Zayas.
