THE STAYCATIONERS: Moxy East Village
There’s a certain rock ‘n roll feel to the East Village, and the new Moxy has set out (successfully) to channel just that. Walking through the glass doors on East 11th Street is like passing through a portal to the city’s old grunge vibes (except, well, nicer)––it’s a place to be as social or hibernatorial as you wish. Here’s how THE STAYCATIONERS channeled their rockstar energy during a Rhum Agricole-fueled midwinter night’s staycay.

THE SPOT: Moxy East Village | 112 East 11th Street
THE STATS: 286 rooms, 24-hour fitness center, one French-Mediterranean restaurant, one all-day café and bar, one rooftop lounge (opening Spring 2020)
PERFECT FOR: A photogenic rock ‘n roll staycation, either alone or with a small group of friends.

Whoever said hot rollers were over was sorely mistaken. Our girls Ruth Roche and Ashley Mauriello came in clutch with the Redken hair supplies and a gravity-defying roller set for some serious volume to last through the evening. Oh, and @annierochediaries lent a paw.

A staycation isn’t quite complete without something fun and fancy to sip throughout. This edition brought to you by various expressions of Rhum Clément, an outstanding Rhum Agricole (a sugarcane spirit native to Martinique). May we top you off?

It’s all fun and games inside the lobby’s Alphabet Bar & Café, a sprawling ’90s grunge-accented space with endless stimulation and photo ops. Cue J.ING and Barking Irons Bob Dylan collection-clad group photoshoot.

A special thanks to Moxy East Village, Rhum Clément, Ruth Roche, Ashley Mauriello, J.ING, and Barking Irons for making this round possible. Give it up for guest staycationers Cat Corcoran (@cat_noel), Sophie Sumner (@sophiesumner8), and Steph Maida (@luxerubbish and @guestofaguest) .
