THE STAYCATIONERS MIA: EAST Miami
In the heart of Brickell is a rather special place, served tall with a dusting of sugar on top. At EAST, it’s all about the views…the sprawling suites and their floor-to-ceiling windows gazing out upon the panoramic skyline, the pool deck nestled between the tops of neighboring buildings, and of course, the sky-high rooftop bar, Sugar, set 40 floors above citizen level. It’s a masterpiece of epic proportions all around…but if you’re afraid of heights, you might have to sit this one out. Time for a sugar high.
THE SPOT: EAST Miami | 788 Brickell Plaza
THE STATS: 40 floors, 352 guest rooms/residences, one outdoor pool deck, stunning rooftop bar, one lobby café, all-day restaurant with an epic breakfast spread
PERFECT FOR: Lounging, living, cooking, eating, and DOING LAUNDRY (if you’re lucky enough to snag a room with in-unit washer/dryer).
Our trusty guest staycationer, Lo Greco, headed up to the pool deck before check-in to scope out the scene. It’s a rough life waiting around ’til 3pm SCT (Standard Check-In Time) for your day to start, but someone’s gotta do it.
Before they knew it, the golden hour at Sugar beckoned, so THE STAYCATIONERS (with special guest Emilie Sobel in tow) dropped their bags in the massive three-bedroom, freshened up a bit, and went straight up to the 40th floor for some serious drinks and bites. The craft cocktails, classic sugar-rimmed Sidecars, and neat pours of Cognac flowed freely…as did the endless chopstick finesse.
After sufficient imbibing, THE STAYCATIONERS settled on the idea of staying in (nothing new here) for a full-on dinner of their own creation. It’s not often that we have the luxury of a fully-stocked kitchen, so best to take advantage. This is a totally normal cooking position. Nothing out of the ordinary here. Side note: they may or may not have had to order room service as backup.
After dinner, THE STAYCATIONERS slipped into something more comfortable and did as true staycationers do (nothing but flounce around in bathrobes, drink in hand). End scene.
Keep up with THE STAYCATIONERS as they take over new hotels in new cities each month. This installment made possible by EAST Miami and the BNIC (Bureau Nacional Interprofessional du Cognac).
Special thanks to our lovely guest staycationers Emilie Sobel and Lo Greco.
