Don’t let the B&B part fool you—The Publishing House will transform the way you envision “bed and breakfast.” It’s living, breathing proof that comfort truly can be made chic. In a combination of luxury boutique and personalized experience, THE STAYCATIONERS relaxed the day and night away. Vintage treasures sit on shelves aligning the walls, printed wall-paper uniquely adorns every room, plants are dispersed in all of their green glory…each embellishment tastefully comes together to create an adorable yet elegant vibe. Let’s check-in, shall we?
THE SPOT: The Publishing House B&B | 108 N. May St., Chicago
THE STATS: 11 guest rooms, breakfast (obviously), the most delicious donuts you’ll ever taste, two cuddly house dogs, comfy living areas, an expansive dining room, and a wine bar downstairs
It goes without saying that THE STAYCATIONERS staycation in style. Mirroring the decor of the house, they dressed in comfortable, night-gown inspired looks that were turned fabulous with the help of a little Fendi fur and Gucci slides. To accompany the posh wardrobe that stylist Elizabeth Margulis bestowed upon us, LISA App came through with the hair and makeup fit for royalty (which isn’t too far from reality).
There was no way we were passing up the breakfast fare the house is so well-known for, even if it wasn’t the right time for it. And, damn. The chef baked the most heavenly, Insta-worthy donuts right before THE STAYCATIONERS’ eyes—how they’re gluten-free remains a mystery. Luckily, Fatty Pope wine pairs perfectly well with everything (even eggs), so to say it goes down easy is an understatement.
The recipe for an ideal slumber party consists of a bed you simply can’t help but sink into, silk pajamas, and of course, Fatty Pope wine (otherwise known as THE STAYCATIONERS’ resident red). They came, they stayed, they conquered…it’s business as usual.
Special thanks to our guest staycationers Angelene Sun and Adam Sokolowski; outfits by STORE. and stylist Elizabeth Margulis of Big Hair Big City; hair and makeup by Crystal Bell and Sabrina Ramirez of LISA App.
