THE STAYCATIONERS: BORO HOTEL
There are several different definitions of “staycation,” one being “getting the hell out of town but not too far, maybe 20 minutes on the subway or so.” Enter Long Island City’s Boro Hotel. Maybe it’s the chic, minimal design or the killer views of the city that you just don’t get in the city, but we’re hooked. The staycation package doesn’t hurt either.

THE SPOT: Boro Hotel | 38-28 27th Street, Long Island City 11101
THE STATS: 108 rooms, pet-friendly, library, market-to-table dining and drinking, Frette linens, glorious penthouse
PERFECT FOR: A mini-getaway for those with an affinity for travel and an aversion to long train rides.
Nothing says “athleisure” like low-key staycationing in monochromatic minimalist surroundings. THE STAYCATIONERS donned head-to-toe ADAY with no real fitness-related plans, unless you count cracking open a Rekorderlig without a bottle opener and taking LuMee-illuminated selfies on the balcony as athletic. Hair and makeup mavens from Make-up Pro came through to add a little magic to the crew’s vibe.

You know what they say about balconies: if you build it, THE STAYCATIONERS will come and shoot it. As if the Manhattan skyline at dusk weren’t already a sight to behold, our girl Sai De Silva made it look that much better — and afterward, in between intense coloring book sessions, her counterpart miss Scout joined in on the fun too.

After working up a serious appetite, THE STAYCATIONERS headed downstairs to break bread over a meal of biblically epic proportions before calling it an early night. Chef George Mandakas whipped up a feast as stunning as its surroundings, and the girls paused only for the intermittent photo opp. Now if you’ll excuse us, we’ve got 8 hours of sleep calling our name before room service breakfast. Until next time.

Keep up with THE STAYCATIONERS as they take over new hotels in new cities each month. This round made possible by Rekorderlig Cider, Boro Hotel, ADAY, Make-up Pro, and LuMee. Special thanks to Sai and Scout of Scout the City along with new TTS contributor Johanna Mariel for joining in on the festivities.
